Upcoming AI-enhanced PCs will cut across consumer segments: HP India’s Vineet Gehani

HP says it is also working on making AI PCs more affordable.

HP India says Artificial intelligence will make computing simpler, more productive, and more efficient as it plans to “leverage AI as a trend”.

Vineet Gehani, Senior Director (Consumer Sales), HP India, said on Friday AI is the “latest and the new revolution” in terms of how the PC industry will look, and “we think AI PCs will be a big game changer as we go forward”.

Right after the launch of the company’s first two AI PCs — Omen Transcend 14 and HP Envy x360 14 — in India Gehani told indianexpress.com, “What you’ve seen now are the first set of AI-enhanced PCs, and we are going to cover the AI and use cases across customer segments. The full spectrum of HP’s upcoming AI-enhanced PCs will cut across consumers, enterprises, data centres, and small and medium businesses (SMBs)”.

“By leveraging AI as a trend, we have the power to deliver personalised experiences that will enable our customers to be more productive and creative. Largely, AI is still on the cloud, and will soon land on devices (edge computing), which will soon become a reality,” he added.

According to HP, AI PCs have several use cases, which include tasks like summarisation of meetings, and they can also handle compute-demanding tasks like graphics design more effectively. Some of the experiences like auto framing and background noise reduction during video calls, once on the cloud, now happen on-device with much lower latency. Accessing AI features on devices like the HP Envy x360 14 will be a lot easier, thanks to the availability of the dedicated Copilot button.

With the launch of the HP Omen Transcend 14, the company is targeting both gamers and content creators with a premium design, cutting-edge hardware, and AI features. According to Gehani, the latest HP laptops such as the Omen Transcend 14 are meant for those “who want faster performances, better productivity, and longer battery life.”

HP has been growing its PC market share in India over the last few years, including the gaming PC category, where gaming laptops currently constitute around 15 to 16 per cent of the overall PC market, and will grow up to 20 to 25 per cent in the following years.
