Google app for Android is getting a makeover with Gemini AI integration

Google’s Android app is getting updated with easier access to Gemini AI chatbot, similar to iPhone users.

Google is updating its Android app, similar to its iOS counterpart, with an option to quickly access the Gemini AI chatbot within the same app. The update is currently rolling out to select users, which makes accessing ChatGPT on Android smartphones a lot easier. iPhone users already have access to these features for a while, as there is no dedicated Gemini app for iPhones.

Select Android users can already access Gemini AI via the dedicated app; however, the standalone Gemini app is currently limited to select users, and the updated Google App for Android makes it easier to access Google’s latest generative AI-powered chatbot.

The upcoming Google App for Android has updated shortcut buttons, and with just a single click, users can switch between regular Google search and Gemini AI. The new shortcut options on the Google App for Android allow users to search the web using a photo from a gallery or via the camera; they can also quickly translate content with a single tap, and it also includes options like homework and sing, which have been a part of Google Assistant for a while.

According to a report from PiunikaWeb, it could take a while before Google rolls out this update to regular users, and it is still said to be in the testing phase.

Google also started rolling out Circle to Search to more devices, including older Google Pixel smartphones and the Galaxy S23 series of devices. Google is likely to enable these new search experiences on more devices in the coming days.
