Zoom unveils new AI tool to summarise meetings

At Zoomtopia 2023, the company unveiled a new AI powered workspace called ‘Zoom Docs’ that can generate summaries of meetings and chats.

Zoom has unveiled a new AI-powered flexible workspace that makes it easy for teams and individuals to collaborate, create and manage projects. Dubbed ‘Zoom Docs’, the company says the new feature will be available to everyone sometime next year.

Announced at Zoomtopia 2023, a blog post by the company suggests Zoom Docs “can be used for documentation, wikis, delegating tasks, work management, and more.” Similar to other AI tools, the new feature can be used to generate summaries of meetings and chats and in-document tables.

Zoom Docs can also help organise data and tasks, track projects across various teams, and segregate information into folders and wikis. It also lets users tag each other and create thread comments.

Compared to solutions from Microsoft and Google, the new feature seems to be focusing more on collaboration rather than creating sheets and presentations.

Since Zoom Docs will be integrated with the company’s meeting platform, users will be able to share docs in Team Chat and won’t need to switch between different browser tabs and apps.

However, Zoom is yet to share if the upcoming functionality will be free for all or requires a subscription.
