WTC Points Table 2023-25 update: India second, improve PCT standing after 4th Test win vs England

WTC Points Table update after IND vs ENG 4th Test: India consolidate their position in the second spot of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 points table with a five-wicket win over England in Ranchi.

India scripted a remarkable turnaround win over England by five wickets in the fourth Test at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi to strengthen their standing in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 points table on Monday.

The win also helped India clinch an unassailable 3-1 series lead over England ahead of the final Test. New Zealand lead the charts with a points percentage (PCT) of 75 after four Tests. Defending champions Australia remain third with a 55 PCT after 10 matches ahead of their two-match Test series against the Kiwis due to start later this week.

India chased down a 192-run target in the fourth-innings after resuming the day at 40 for no loss. Skipper Rohit Sharma struck a half-century before quick wickets pegged the top-order.

Number three batter Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel combined for a solid sixth-wicket stand to eventually lead India home. Gill steered the chase with a half-century, reaching the mark with successive sixes against off-spinner Shoaib Bashir.

After solid resistance with the bat, Shubman Gill clears the ropes twice and brings up his FIFTY! 😎#TeamIndia only 2 runs away from a win in Ranchi!

India’s win was their fifth in seven games this cycle. Meanwhile, England are languishing on eighth place after their sixth defeat. They have also lost 19 points due to slow over-rate offenses thus far. Sri Lanka is at the bottom of the points table with two losses from as many games.

India and England will head into a ten-day break and lock horns in the final Test in Dharamsala from March 7-11.
