Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman concluded consultations with stakeholders, including industry and social sector representatives, as part of preparations for the FY25 budget.

Last month, President Droupadi Murmu, addressing Parliament, anticipated significant economic decisions in the upcoming budget session.
“This budget will outline the government’s extensive policies and futuristic vision,” Murmu said in her first joint sitting address since the 18th Lok Sabha’s formation. “Alongside major economic and social decisions, historic steps will also be evident in this budget.”
The Finance Ministry announced the conclusion of pre-budget consultations for Union Budget 2024-25, spanning from June 19 to July 5, 2024.
Over 120 invitees from 10 stakeholder groups, including farmer associations, trade unions, education, health, employment sectors, MSMEs, industry, economists, financial markets, and infrastructure sectors, participated in these consultations.
Meetings chaired by Sitharaman included Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Finance Secretary T V Somanathan, Economic Affairs Secretary Ajay Seth, DIPAM Secretary Tuhin K Pandey, Financial Services Secretary Vivek Joshi, and Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra.
During the consultations, Sitharaman thanked participants for their suggestions, assuring them that all inputs would be carefully reviewed in the budget’s preparation.
