TM Roh states that there are various needs for mobile AI and people are even ready to pay for it.
Samsung’s Southeast Asia CEO TM Roh in an interview with ET Telecom has confirmed that the company is currently developing more advanced Galaxy AI features, which will be made available to users on or after 2025. He has also confirmed that Galaxy AI features introduced on the Galaxy S24 series will be available for free at least until 2025.
However, as of now, there is no information on what are the other Galaxy AI features that the company is currently working on. TM Roh further adds that some of the upcoming AI features on Galaxy devices will be even more powerful, which will be meant for those, who are ready to pay for those premium experiences, similar to what OpenAI and Microsoft are currently doing, which offers basic AI features for free, and power users need a subscription to unlock the full capabilities of ChatGPT and Copilot, respectively.

Samsung’s Galaxy AI features are currently limited to the Galaxy S24 series (review) of smartphones, powered by either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or the Exynos 2400 SoC. However, the company has confirmed that the Galaxy AI features will be available for more than 100 million Galaxy devices, indicating these features will soon be made available on the previous generation flagships such as the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy foldable. While some of the AI features on the Galaxy S24 series are powered by Google across the world, Samsung has partnered with Beidu to offer those features in China.
Galaxy AI currently has four major features — Circle to search, Live call translation, transcription, note assist, and photo assist. Similarly, the company also offers technologies like a generative-AI powered wallpaper generator, and an enhanced photo editor, which allows users to replace/resize subjects from a picture, and these features work even on photos captured on other devices.
Samsung also announced that it is doubling down on manufacturing in India and will soon start assembling Galaxy laptops in the country, while the brand has been making products like smartphones and monitors for a while.
