It’s truly Nothing like you’ve ever seen before.
Hype machine brand Nothing has been busy teasing the Nothing Phone 2a for several weeks now. The company has now teased the phone’s design (properly) for the first time ahead of its March 5 launch.
The teaser aligns perfectly with the phone’s previously leaked renders, meaning its eyeball-like (or a snout if you will) camera lens design will soon be hitting the shelves. The Nothing Phone 2a will be the first phone from the brand with a design like this – the previous two models both featured iPhone-esque camera lenses.
This is a welcome departure considering the Nothing Phone 1 received plenty of flak from tech bros on Twitter for borrowing cues from the iPhone 13’s design. Will this be Nothing’s new staple going forward or will the change be limited to its more budget-friendly ‘a’ series? We’ll have to wait for the Nothing Phone 3 to know for sure, which is expected to launch this July.(Image: Nothing)
Camera island tweaks aside, Nothing stays true to its design DNA and retains a transparent rear packing 3 LED lights for your ringtones and calls. This is 7 short of the 11 LEDs the Nothing Phone 2 boasted, so it’d be fair to expect a reduction in the scope of its notifications. Perhaps you won’t be able to tell how much the phone’s been juiced up when it’s lying face down this time around.
Another sign of price cutting is the phone seemingly opting for a plastic frame – a departure from the metal railings on the previous two models. This bit is only speculation, though, reckoned by the lack of antenna lines on leaked renders. Hopefully, the actual model proves us wrong though.
The official render shows the Nothing Phone 2a in a showy white colour but expect a black variant to accompany it.
Under the hood, Nothing has confirmed that the Phone 2a will feature a slightly souped-up version of the Dimensity 7200, optimised specifically for the model. The handset is expected to be priced below Rs 30,000.
