Dorsey responded to a question from Bluesky user Jason Goldman who asked his opinion on Musk’s leadership at Twitter. “No. Nor do I think he acted right after realizing his timing was bad.
Twitter’s former CEO Jack Dorsey has criticised Elon Musk’s leadership and the current state of affairs at the micro-blogging site. Dorsey admits Twitter is faring poorly under Musk and Tesla CEO “should have walked away” from buying the social media giant and paid the $1 billion break-up fee.
Dorsey responded to a question from Bluesky user Jason Goldman who asked his opinion on Musk’s leadership at Twitter. “No. Nor do I think he acted right after realizing his timing was bad. Nor do I think the board should have forced the sale. It all went south,” Dorsey said.
Dorsey further shared his opinion that Twitter “would have never survived as a public company,” he responded to a user, who asked if it was a good decision to let go of the company.
Dorsey previously called Musk the “singular solution” to take over Twitter in his tweet from April 2022. However, a year later, Dorsey no more seems optimistic about the future of Twitter under Musk.
Elon Musk, one of the world’s wealthiest persons, took over Twitter last year for $44 billion. But since last year, Twitter has been facing criticism after a series of moves by Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. From steep job cuts to facing flak for its new ‘blue tick’ verification policy, things haven’t been smooth for Twitter.
Dorsey currently endorses Bluesky, a new social networking platform being pitched as Twitter 2.0. The platform shares many similarities with Twitter like users can post short text and video updates and share other’s posts. But unlike Twitter, Bluesky aims to be a decentralised system, allowing people to build their apps and ecosystem within it.
