Chennai moved up to third with 12 points, ahead of Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad on net run-rate. Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals are still in the hunt for the playoffs.
With LSG and KKR have almost cemented their places in the playoffs. The race for the third and fourth teams has intensified with Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants all tied at 12 points. Sunrisers have played a game less than Chennai and Lucknow, they will be locking horns against Mumbai Indians on Monday and a win can put them a firm favourite to seal their playoff berth. They are currently placed at third, followed by Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.
Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals are at fifth with 10 points in 11 matches.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have lost seven of their eight IPL 2024 matches have made a remarkable turnaround by wining three on the trot. The Faf du Plessis team is still in the hunt but they will have to win their remaining games. They will then finish on 14 points. Then, if other results go their way, they could finish in the top four without going into an NRR scenario.
Punjab’s hopes of qualification took a blow. It’s eighth in the 10-team league with eight points.
For Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians, things are looking very bleak as they are lying ninth and tenth, respectively. Titans still have that outside chance, if they end up winning all their three matches, then they will reach 14 points but for Mumbai, who has a disastrous campaign, they are all but out. Mumbai Indians have only six points in 11 matches but they can certainly play the party spoiler if they will finish strong.
