Director Mani Ratnam is directing the two-part film of the same name, “Ponniyin Selvan”, based on the novel “Ponniyin Selvan” by the late writer Kalki Krishnamurthy.
Filming for the full-length film took place in several phases in several cities. The film was shot in Pondicherry, Hyderabad, Gwalior, Maheshwar, Pollachi, Udumalai and Mysore. The film crew has officially announced that the shooting of this film has been completed. Post-production work on the film is currently underway.
Co-produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, the film will be made into two parts. The first installment of “Ponniyin Selvan-1” has been officially announced to hit the screens on September 30, 2022.
The PS1 film stars Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Aishwarya Lexmi, Trisha, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Kishore, Jayaram, Lal, Rahman, Ashwin. The poster for the film was released recently and was well received.
Sreekar Prasad is overseeing the editing of the film and Tharani is working as the art director. Ravi Varman does the cinematography for the film. Music is composed by AR Rahman. The film’s special sound, background sounds (foley) and re-recording are taking place at the Nungambakkam River Records Studio.
