Bahrain’s Paralympic Committee secretary-general Ali Mohammed Al-Majid confirmed the kingdom’s readiness to host the first International Paralympic Badminton Championship from May 16-21.
Al-Majid explained that the tournament comes in accordance with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and reflects the interest of SCYS first vice president, General Authority for Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in supporting all sports alike, stressing the efforts and interest of Bahrain’s Paralympic Committee chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa in hosting this championship.
Al Majid noted the role of the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF) in organising this tournament in co-operation with the Bahraini Paralympic Committee, as well as the efforts of BBSF president Dr Sawsan Taqawi.
