Elon Musk’s X might soon receive video & audio calling features

CEO Linda Yaccarino confirmed that the platform will soon gain native calling capabilities, allowing X platform users to connect with each other over voice or video calls without leaving the app.

Elon Musk-owned micro-blogging platform will soon gain audio and video calling capabilities. The source code of X, previously known as Twitter, indicates that the platform will soon gain native calling features on both Android and iOS devices. And, as expected, these features are likely to remain exclusive to the X premium subscribers.

Internet-based calling apps and services have been picking up pace over the last few years. In fact, almost all the major social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook support free voice and video calls, and X Corp is all set to introduce the same on its micro-blogging platform.

Back in August, CEO Linda Yaccarino confirmed that the platform will soon gain native calling capabilities, allowing X platform users to connect with each other over voice or video calls without leaving the app. Linda also highlighted that users will be able to make these calls without sharing their phone numbers, which acts as an added layer of privacy for users.

As of now, there is no official confirmation of when this feature will be made available for users.

Elon Musk has also highlighted that X is not just a micro-blogging app; it is a super app that can do a lot of things. Besides native calling capabilities, X is also anticipated to add a native payment feature to the platform, enabling users to send and receive money within the app.

Elon Musk recently suggested that premium users will soon be able to upload up to 4K resolution videos on the platform. This, combined with the newly announced monetization feature, provides a lot of incentives for users to opt for X Premium, which costs Rs 900 per month in India.
