Elon Musk replacing ‘Tweet’ button with ‘Post’? X braces for another big change

You may want to enjoy your last few ‘tweets’ before they become posts.

Twitter is in a state of flux, as it tries to shed its old skin and emerge as a new creature: X. The website is still littered with remnants of its past, such as the words “Twitter” and “tweet”, even as the X logo is slapped across the platform now. But the transition is an ongoing process and some users have noticed another change – the X website is testing the replacement of the ‘Tweet’ button with a ‘Post’ button.

This answers the burning question that many had since the rebranding: what will tweets be called now?

So far, only the X website seems to have undergone this change, but it is likely that the X apps will follow suit soon. Users who are nostalgic for the old Twitter may want to enjoy their last few tweets before they become posts.

One user also posted that the change was temporary and was reverted after an hour. Regardless, the term ‘tweets’ becoming history is on the horizon regardless since it doesn’t go well with the new single-lettered name.

To give some additional context, Twitter announced its rebranding to X in June 2023, as part of its strategy to expand its services beyond social media. Elon Musk said that X would offer a range of products and features, such as e-commerce, gaming, streaming, and education. However, the rebranding was met with mixed reactions, with many questioning the rationale and the execution of the move.
