Apple Music introduces AI-generated artworks for playlists, but there’s a catch

Reportedly, there will be a “Create Image” button when editing a playlist in Apple Music

Apple Music to use Apple Intelligence powered feature in a new iOS 18 update.According to 9to5Mac, the iOS  developer beta four contains a line of code that suggests that soon Apple Music users will get the ability to generate AI artworks for playlists.

Reportedly, there will be a “Create Image” button when editing a playlist in Apple Music. This button will eventually land you in Image Playground, which is part of the Apple Intelligence features.

Apple Intelligence in Apple Music!

Earlier with the iOS 17.1 update, Apple had introduced a library of artwork. This can allow you to choose from artworks to customize a playlist in Apple Music. However, it seems that the company wants to take this feature to the next level with iOS 18, by pairing it with Apple Intelligence. 

A few days ago ,during WWDC 2024, Apple teased Image Playground. With the app, users will be able to write commands to generate new images with the help of AI. Furthermore, these AI-generated images can have different styles. The styles include such as animation, illustration and sketch. 

However there is no option to generate photorealistic images in Image playground, Apple explained. Image Playground in Apple Music has the potential to create an creative and innovative playlist, specifically curated for each user’s need. 

Other updates

According to a recent Bloomberg report, some of the new AI features in Apple won’t arrive until 2025. Apple Intelligence being still unavailable in beta 4, rumors suggest that Apple will postpone its AI features to iOS 18.1 or later.

Apple had always been coming up with great ideas. Even during the WWDC 2024, it introduced the world its own AI model calling it ‘Apple Intelligence’. Apple Intelligence aims to bring system-wide AI capabilities such as writing assistance, summarisation, image generation and more. Apple is expected to release some of these features in preview with the initial iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia public release,  most probably in September. In addition to this iOS 18 will be released this fall. A beta preview is now available for developers and public beta users, 9to5Mac reported. 

A few days earlier, Apple introduced the “Apple Watch for Your Kids” feature. The new feature is now available on the Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 4 and later models. This new addition aims to bring the incredible communication, health, fitness, and safety features of the Apple Watch to children and other family members who don’t have an iPhone.
