Almost 40% of the world is on Facebook now, but growth has slowed in home market

Meanwhile, Meta’s family of apps – Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Threads – has reached almost 3.9 billion monthly active users.

In its second-quarter result announcement on Thursday, Meta revealed that Facebook reached over 3 billion monthly active users as of June 30 – or almost 40% of the world population. That’s a 6% increase from a year ago.

However, the company also revealed that its user growth in the US and Europe was sluggish, while most of the new users came from Asia-Pacific and the rest of the world.

The earnings call showed that Facebook’s monthly active users in the US and Canada increased by only around one million, while it actually dropped by two million in Europe. The largest increase in Facebook users came from the Asia-Pacific region and the rest of the world, at around 25 and 16 million monthly active users, respectively.
