Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals qualified after Lucknow Super Giants were defeated by the Delhi Capitals on May 14 which virtually took LSG out of contention of the play-offs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad became the third team to qualify for the playoffs after their match against Gujarat Titans was called off on May 16 due to incessant rain in Hyderabad.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Chennai Super Kings by 27 runs in their final league game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 18 to qualify for the playoffs.
To qualify for the Playoffs despite a defeat in this match, CSK had to ensure a defeat by no more than 17 runs. Chasing a 219-run target, CSK finished on 191 for seven. Despite their consistent losses, RCB made the qualification possible through their superior Net Run Rate (NRR) – the tiebreaker in case of equal points and wins for the four teams. RCB finished with an NRR of +0.459, followed by CSK (+0.392), DC (-0.377) and LSG (-0.667).
