Apple Music Classical now available on iPad

Apple Music Classical is an app dedicated to classical music and features more than 5 million tracks. It is now available for download on the iPad.

Designed to handle complex metadata of classical music albums and recordings, the Apple Music Classical app helps users get a better understanding of different genres of music. The latest update (v1.1) also brings a new interface that is specifically designed to make use of the iPad’s large display and features a navigation sidebar, with the playback controls placed at the bottom of the screen.

When compared to the standard Apple Music app, the Music Classical app offers additional information like composer biographies, editorial notes, descriptions of key works and more for every track listed.

It also features hundreds of curated playlists, and exclusive albums and lets users search for music by conductor, composer, opus number, instruments, work and catalogue number to name a few. Users can also create customised playlists based on parameters like composers, genres, soloists, ensembles, choirs and periods.

The app can play songs in high fidelity at 192 kHz/24-bit rate and supports spatial audio. However, unlike Apple Music, it does not support the ability to download and play music offline. Users who already have an active Apple Music subscription can download and listen to songs on Apple Music Classical for free.

Apple Music Classical is already available on iOS and Android and can be downloaded for free from respective app stores.
