Microsoft testing ‘Bing Chat’ on Chrome and Safari with limited functionality

Microsoft has confirmed that everyone will be able to use Bing Chat on Chrome and Safari in the near future, but it is still unclear if the chatbot will be as powerful as the Edge version.

Microsoft’s ‘Bing Chat’ has the potential to change how we browse the internet. Powered by GPT-4, the new Bing Chat experience was limited to Microsoft’s Edge browser and the Bing app, but a recent report from TechCrunch suggests that the tech giant is bringing the chatbot to Chrome and Safari.

Even though Microsoft is yet to officially announce the feature, in an emailed statement the Director of Communications at Microsoft told TechCrunch they are rolling out the feature to select users as of now, with plans to Bing Chat to everyone using Chrome and Safari in the near future.

If you received access you will see a pop-up on the Windows taskbar. Clicking that will let you use Bing Chat on Chrome. It looks like Microsoft has also added support for a dark mode, which should come in handy when using the chatbot in the dark. Also, if you access the chatbot on Chrome, you might see a ‘Start exploring in Edge’ pop-up with a ‘Chat Now’ button that will redirect you to Edge.
