Nothing confirms Phone (1) will get access to new Android 14 Beta 1 upgrade

With the latest development, Nothing becomes one of the first Google Android partners to receive Beta access to Android 14.

UK-based smartphone brand Nothing has announced that it will be one of the first Google Android partners to offer Beta access to Android 14. The company, in an official release, said that its product team will have early access to the all-new Android 14 Beta 1 upgrade to ensure seamless integration to Nothing OS for a fluid user experience.

“We’re proud to announce that Nothing will be one of the first Google Android partners to offer Beta access to Android 14. Nothing’s product team will have early access to the new Android 14 Beta 1 upgrade to ensure seamless integration to Nothing OS for a smooth user experience,” Nothing said in an official release.

Nothing has, however, not shared any timeline for the update. The latest development makes the Nothing Phone 1 the first non-Google device to get an independent preview. The tech fraternity is expecting more Android partners to confirm beta phases in the run-up to the forthcoming Google I/O slated for May 10.

Early access to Android 14 Beta for Phone (1) would mean that the brand could launch a stable Nothing OS update later this year. This also spells good for Nothing Phone (2), which is expected to be unveiled in the coming months. However, so far, there is no information if the Nothing Phone (2) will be eligible for public review when it hits the market.

Reportedly, Google’s Android 14 Developer Preview and Beta will include some changes to Dynamic Color and Material You. Since Nothing OS bears similarity to the software on Pixel devices, experts anticipate minor tweaks. It remains to be seen when the UK-based smartphone brand will share details on how Phone (1) users can sign up. The company is expected to divulge more details in the coming weeks.
