Despite whole nation praying for her well being, legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar finally breathed her last on Sunday morning. She was undergoing treatment for post Covid-19 complications since last one month in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. Her doctor Pratit Samdani told a news outlet, “It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of #LataMangeshkar at 8:12am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation post COVID19.”
Soon after the news broke out, several Bollywood celebs took to their social media outlets to pay their last respects to Lata ji. Actress Anushka Sharma shared a picture to the late singer and tweeted, “‘God speaks through beautiful voices’
Sad sad day for India as our nightingale leaves her mortal body. Lataji’s voice has immortalised her for ever. She will live in our hearts through her music. My deepest condolences to her family, friends and fans. RIP Lataji ????.”
Veteran actress Hema Malini also shared a montage featuring herself with Lata Ji and wrote, “Feb 6 is a dark day for us – the legend who has given us a treasure trove of lilting songs, the Nightingale of India, Lataji, has left us to continue her divine music in heaven?? It is a personal loss for me as our affection & admiration for each other was mutual.”
Several stalwarts of the film industry, politicians and other renowned names also expressed their condolances. Lata Mangeshkar was finally laid to rest at Shivaji Park, Mumbai with full state honours.
